ORL plays a dominant role in the Israeli energy economy. Its Haifa complex manufactures a variety of distillates and raw materials needed for industry, transportation and the energy economy. ORL maintains strict quality controls, and all of its products comply with the stringent standards in Israel and in Europe, including Euro V.
ORL’s green business policy for a better future is demonstrated by its cooperation with Israel’s Ministry of Environmental Quality and by its investment of hundreds of millions of dollars on this goal alone.
As part of ORL’s strategic plan, it has already resolved to earmark investments totalling some USD 270 million to further increase environmental quality, safety and security, and to upgrade operational reliability.
By the end of 2010, ORL had invested some USD 115 million in these issues, including infrastructure and preparations for the Haifa refinery’s conversion to use of natural gas; state-of-the-art systems for minimizing particle and nitrogen oxide emissions from the refinery; increasing mercaptan utilization capacities and upgrading furnace safety measures.
